When an acid reacts with a base to produce salt and water , the reaction is called neutralisation reaction.
Lichen is a plant from which dye is extracted which is used to make litmus paper.

Heya friend!
Sheena here!
=> Neutralisation reaction is a reaction in which acid and base are added in same quantity together to form neutral products such as salts and water.
=> Neutralisation is important in many uses one such use is used in agriculture,When the soil becomes to acidic farmers add basic substances to make it neutral
=> Another example can be water released in factories, as the water may have many acidic substances they use basic substance to make the water neutral and free from acids so that they don't harm the fishes and then sent to water bodies.
=> When an ant bites it injects formic acid and thus baking soda is applied which is a base to make it neutralise (normal).
Litmus paper
=> Litmus paper is an indicator which is used in acid and base to indentify.
=> It is obtained by the lichens.
=> Lichens is a combination of an alga and a fungus.
=> Lichens show symbiotic relationship.
=> The alga gives food to the fungus which it prepares by photosynthesis and in return the fungus provides food,shelter and water to the alga.
=> Litmus papers are of two types namely blue litmus paper and red litmus paper.
=> In acid the blue litmus paper changes to red and in base the red litmus to blue.

Hope this helps!
