The reaction between an acid and a base to give salt and water is known as Neutralization reaction.

NaOH + HCl-----> NaCl + H2O
Here, NaOH which is a base reacts with acid HCl to form salt NaCl and water.

Neutralization reaction

  • A neutralization chemical reaction takes place for which an acid and a base proportionally react to generate water and salt as byproducts.
  • A neutralization reaction involves the formation of water by the interaction of H+ ions with OH– ions.
  • NaOH + HCl  =>  NaCl + H2O
  • Here, the base NaOH combines with the acid HCl to generate the salt NaCl & water.

Application:-

  1. Wastewater treatment
  2. Titration method
  3. Nanomaterial synthesis
