\underline{\Large{\mathcal{NEUTRALIZATION\:REACTION\::}}}

The reaction between an acid and a base to give a salt and water is called neutralisation reaction.

                                             Or

An acid neutralises the basic character of a base, and a base neutralises the acidity of an acid. Thus, acid & base neutralise to each other.So, It's known as Neutralisation.

When an acid and a base (alkali) react with each other, then a salt and water is formed.

Like as :

\sf{Acid\:+\:Base\longrightarrow Salt\:+\:Water}

For Example :

Reaction of potassium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid.

\sf{KOH\:(aqueous)\:+\:HCl\:(aqueous)\:\longrightarrow\:KCl\:(aqueous)\:+\:H2O\:(liquid)}\\\:\:\:\:\:\:\tt{(base)\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:(Acid)\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:(Salt)\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:\:(Water)}
