The reaction between an acid and a base to give a salt and water is called neutralisation reaction.
Or
An acid neutralises the basic character of a base, and a base neutralises the acidity of an acid. Thus, acid & base neutralise to each other. So, It's known as Neutralisation.
When an acid and a base (alkali) react with each other, then a salt and water is formed.
