A neutralisation reaction takes place between an acid and a base.When an acid reacts with a base,salt and water are formed. HCl+NaOH →NaCl+H2O Note: The '2' in the above equation should be written in subscript.

Neutralisation is a reaction between an acid and base to give salt and water .

Acid + base → salt + water

ex :-  1 )  HCl + NaOH →NaCl +H2O
       2) CH3COOH + NaOH → CH3COONa + H2O
