New land octave is a law given by an English chemist , John Alexander Newlands . In 1885 , he made an attempt to classify the elements known at that time in the increasing order of their atomic masses known as law of octaves . He noticed that the every eight element of the series has properties similar to the first element as every note resembles the first in octaves of music. It means that after a difference of seven elements , the element with similar properties was observed .

an English scientist called John Newlands put forward his law of octaves in 1864. He arranged all the elements known at the time into a table in order of relative atomic mass. When he did this, he found that each element was similar to the element eight places further on.
