Newlands proposed the law of octaves in 1865.

He arranged the then known elements in pair of eight like a musical notes thats why this law is known as Newlands law of Octave.

He arranged the then known elements in increasing order of their atomic masses, in which the properties of the every eighth element are similar to that of the first element.

Example, Eighth element from sodium is potassium.
