Answer:

News is information about current events. This may be provided through many different media: word of mouth, printing, postal systems, broadcasting, electronic communication, or through the testimony of observers and witnesses to events.

There are many types of news. This is a list of some of the various categories in news, namely in newspapers:

“Hard” news: Your traditional news of the day. This includes crime stories, political stories, education news, city council news, etc.

Sports news: Pretty self explanatory; sports news includes news about the sports world.

Feature news: Feature stories profile individuals or organizations and tend to be written in narrative style rather than the traditional inverted pyramid or martini glass styles of other news. Feature stories focus on the people aspect of the story, rather than simply answering the five W and the H questions.

Columns/Editorials: Columns and editorials are often separate from the rest of the newspaper because they are opinion pieces. Columns are personal opinions about whatever topic the columnist writes about, while editorials consist of the collective opinion of the newspaper’s editorial board.

Advantage:- Reading news enhances your knowledge. Reading news (from newspaper or from any other form) makes a good habit and it is already part of the modern life.  This habit will widen your outlook and will enrich your knowledge.

Disadvantages:-

1. Short shelf life, newspapers are read only once.

2. Poorly print limits creativity

3. Ad space may be expensive, Passive medium (people are not forced to see and read)

4. No audio-video element

5. Less up to-date in news coverage

6. A literacy (literate but finding an arduous activity)
