What is Newton's disc? How does it show that light is composed of many colors?

The Newton's disc is a scientific experiment which is used to demonstrate the seven constituent colours of the light.

It shows that light is composed of many colours,in the following way -

• The disc surface is painted by seven colours in VIBGYOR sequence,and each of the colours takes equal segment on the surface..

• Now,when the disc is rotated the whole disc appears white in colour because,the colours are rotating at a very high speed so our eye catches the combined colour (white) instead of seven individual colours.

• Similarly,the white light is also made out of seven colours of the Newton disc.
