The Newton disc, also known as the Disappearing Colour Disc, is a well-known physics experiment with a rotating disc with segments in different colors (usually Newton's primary colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet or ROYGBIV) appearing as white.

Newton's disc is a coloured disc which is painted with the colours of white light [i.e., violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red (VIBGYOR)] in equal proportions so that when it is rotated very fast, the disc appears white. This is because of a property of our eyes called persistence of vision.

What is the use of Newton's disc?

The Newton's Colour Wheel/Disk is used for demonstrating how white light is composed of the colours of the rainbow. some white is also present for a better result when viewing the rotating disk.
