NLX is a short hand notation of electronic configuration.It consists of the principal quantum energylevel (n) sublevel (l) and the no.of electron (x) in the sub level.It helps to predict the values.It helps to predict the values of all the four quantum number of any electron.
for eg:
nitrogen atomic number 7
electronic configuration 1s
 {1s}^{2}  {2s}^ {2}   {2p}^{3}

Answer: nlˣ is a method for notation of electronic configuration. It helps  us to determine the four quantum numbers.

Explanation: nlˣ is a method for notation of electronic configuration. It helps us to determine the four quantum numbers of a particular electron. n indicates the principal quantum number, l determines the sub level and x represents the number of electrons present in that sub level.

As for example we have to find the values of n,l,x of helium atom. We know that the electronic configuration of He is 1s².

If we compare it with nlˣ method , here the value of n will be 1.

here s denotes the angular quantum number which represents the l

and x is the number of electron on l that is 2.
