Nomenclature is the process of naming an organism with a name such that the organism is known by that name all over the world.

Carolus Linneaus proposed Binomial Nomenclature.

The conventions are as follows:-

1.The genus name must start with capitals whereas the species name must start with small letters.

2.The name must be derived Latin or latinised

3.The name when printed must be in italics and underlined separately when handwritten

4.The name of the author who proposed the name must be written after the name.

Eg:- Mangifera Indica Linn
