This type of inheritance of recessive sex linked character from father to daughter and then from the daughter to her sons is known as criss-cross inheritance or sex linked or X-linked inheritance Females possessing one X-linked recessive mutation are considered carriers and will generally not manifest clinical symptoms .

Transmission of a gene from male parent to female child to male grandchild for example, X-linked inheritance.

The criss-cross type of inheritance is the inheritance of sex-linked characters. These characters are transmitted from fathers to daughters or from mothers to sons. The common example is X-linked inheritance. Haemophilia C is an X-linked disorder showing this type of inheritance.

A criss-cross inheritance is produced when a female carries two recessive X-linked alleles, crossed with a wild-type male because the Y chromosomes from the male behave as null alleles. As a result, the recessive allele from the female parent is always expressed in the male offspring.

Some points on non Criss cross inheritance are as follows:-

1. In this type of Inheritance male or female parent transfers the sex linked character to grand son or grand daugnter through the offspring of the same Sex.

2. It is seen in drosophila.

3. Hologenic:- Mother ==> Daughter ==> Grand daughter (female to female)

4. Holandric:- Father ==> Son ==> Grandson (male to male).

5. In this if son is found to be affected then mother will be affected 100% for sure.
