north east monsoon winds are tose winds which flow from north east to sout west direction in the month of june to september.they travel from the region of high pressure to the region of low pressure built over the seas.these winds absorb the moisture of the bay of bengal and cause rainfall in coastal areas of tamil nadu. they generally cause the retreating rainfall.cyclonic disturbances are caused by these winds.clear sky, rainless days are the charateristics of these winds. except for some part of tamil nadu.

The term was first used in English in British India (now India,Bangladesh and Pakistan) and neighbouring countries to refer to the big seasonal winds blowing from the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea in the southwest bringing heavy rainfall to the area.
