UNBALANCED FORCES

Violation of conservation of mass principle is not the effect of unbalanced forces.

GETTING TO KNOW MORE ABOUT UNBALANCED FORCES:

* The force exerted in one direction is higher than the force applied in the opposing direction, resulting in imbalanced forces. There is a shift in speed and/or direction when unbalanced forces occur on an item.

* The bucket did not move when you softly pressed on it during the class demonstration. It only moved when you pressed hard enough on it. The force you provided has to be larger than the friction force acting in the opposite direction to move the bucket.

* Before the bucket to move, one force (pushing) had to be larger than the other (friction). When one force is stronger than the other, the forces are out of balance, or imbalanced.
