What are Nouns?

Nouns can be defined as those words, which are the names of people, places, animals, objects, material, a group of something, feelings etc.

Types of Nouns

Generally, there are 3 types of nouns:

  1. Proper Nouns: These are the names of people, places, and animals. For example, Rahul, Rohit, Delhi, Mumbai, Tricki, Bruno etc. are all proper nouns.
  2. Common Nouns: These are used to refer to a proper noun in common, For example, Rahul and Rohit are people, Delhi and Mumbai are places, Tricki and Bruno are animals. Other examples include student, country etc.
  3. Abstract Nouns: These are words the tell us the feelings of someone, or something that we can't touch. For example, heat, happy, sad, angry etc.
