mRNA is a subtype of RNA (RiboNucleic Acid). It carries genetic information from the DNA (Deoxy-riboNucleic Acid) in the nucleus of the cell to the ribosomes in the cytoplasm. They do so in the form of a chemical code. This code is interpreted to produce the specified amino acids. These amino acids are further assembled to produce all the forms of proteins we know.

It is a long linear polymer of nucleotides found in the nucleus but mainly in the cytoplasm of a cell where it is associated with microsomes.
lt transmits genetic information from DNA to the cytoplasm and controls certain chemical processes in the cell.
