Nuclear energy is the energy associated with the binding of protons and neutrons into the nuclei of atoms. Small atoms can be combined to make larger atoms with higher binding energy. When this binding energy is released by making atomic nuclei bigger, we call it “fusion”.

Most of the power stations produce nuclear energy by method of fission Uranium 235 or plutonium 239 kept at critical mass produce heat.

Another method is fusion. But controlled fusion reaction is not achieved due to very high temperature.
Nuclear energy from reactors are transferred to heaters which make steam, steam drives turbine and they rotate the generators to produce electric power.
