—(••÷ Answer ÷••)—

  • ❇️ The nuclear force is a force that acts between the protons and neutrons of atoms. Neutrons and protons, both nucleons, are affected by the nuclear force almost identically.

  • ❇️ The two characteristic properties of nuclear force: Nuclear forces are independent of the charge of protons and neutrons. ... It depends on the spins of the nucleons that is whether they are parallel or no and also on the non central or tensor component of nucleons.

Definition:

A strong force of attraction keeps the neutrons and the protons bound together within the nucleus. This interaction is called strong interaction and the force thus produced and acting between the nucleons is called nuclear force.

Characteristics of nuclear force:

• Nuclear force is stronger than gravitational force or Columbic force.

• It is only an attractive force.

• Nuclear force is independent of charge.

• It is a very short range force limited to a distance of about 10 {}^{ - 2} cm
