The nucleus is an organelle found in eukaryotic cells. Inside its fully-enclosed nuclear membrane, it contains the majority of the cell's genetic material. This material is organized as DNA molecules, along with a variety of proteins, to form chromosomes.

Nucleus is usually a dense, spherical or oval organelle. In a young cell, it occupies the central position.

FUNCTION :-
The nucleus is the store house of genes. Genes control the production of enzymes without which there cannot be any metabolic activity. These also order the cell to perform specialized functions such as cell divisions, cell secretion, cell communication etc. Removing the nucleus from the cell means removing the guiding center of that cell. Therefore, without a nucleus, a cell neither survive nor perform specialized functions.
