The rxn. in which an acid and a base react to form salt and water is called neutralisation rxn.

They are called so becoz acid and base neutralises the pH to 7.

foreg. rxn. of NaOH with HCl yields NaCl and water

NaOH +HCl ---) NaCl +H2O
