When acids are mixed with base solutions, they trend to destroy the properties of each other making the product neither an acid nor a base. This reaction between an acid and a base is called neutralization reaction. Salts are formed as product of these reactions.
As for example:
When hydrochloric acid reacts with sodium cloride it forms sodium chloride which is a neutral salte and water.
