Nutrient - It is a substance which is necessary for growth and maintenance of an organism.

Modes of nutrition -

\ \bf{\underline{\tt{\green{Heterotrophic\: nutrition - }}}} The heterotrophs can't make their own food but they are dependent on the autotrophs for their nutrition.

2. Saprotrophic nutrition

3. Parasitic nutrition

\ \bf{\underline{\tt{\green{Autotrophic\: nutrition - }}}} It is a mode of nutrition which occurs in plants and some bacteria. They obtain their own food from inorganic sources in the form of water, carbon dioxide.
