Oxygen O2 is what we inhale or take. ...from environment and co2 is what we exhale.

These are the respiratory type of part of air as during breathing we inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide

Also during respiration the oxygen helps in the breaking down of glucose to produce carbon dioxide,water and energy for various life processes
