A process by which, when a band of cold air meets and passes a band of warm air in the atmosphere, the warm air is pushed upwards off the earth’s surface called Occlusion.

Occlusion has a couple of meanings, they are:

i) a process by which the cold front of a rotating low-pressure system catches  up the warm front, so that the warm air between them is forced upwards off the earth's surface between wedges of cold air;

ii) the blockage or closing of a blood vessel or hollow organ; and

iii) the position of the teeth when the jaws are closed.
