An offshore wind is a wind that goes from land towards the sea. The opposite is an onshore wind.

those are often the case during what is called, a sea breeze effect. If there is a high pressure with clear sky and little wind, the land will be warmer than the sea during daytime and colder, at night. That causes the wind to blow from sea to land, during daytime (onshore wind) and from land to sea, at night (offshore wind).

The onshore wind brings moisture that, when rising in the convection of warm air, causes condensation as clouds. At night, it is the dry air from the land, that moves over the warmer sea and the sky is clear.
