At constant temperature, the potential difference between two points in that wire is directly proportional to the current flowing through it.

v = ir

where r is the resistance of the wire and it depends upon the length, cross-sectional area and Material of the wire.

r =  \gamma  \times \frac{l}{a}

where,

gamma is the resistivity of wire,

l is length of wire, and

a is area of cross section of wire.
