Hey read the last line!

ol functional group in organic chemistry is actually called hydroxyl group

It is :-

--OH

Where O is oxygen atom

and H is hydrogen atom

And if in a hydrocarbon -H group is replaced by --OH group then you get a new compound having new properties

If -H group is replaced from alkane molecule you will get an alcohol molecule
