  contest elections hold and power in the govt.

• In a democracy any group of citizens is free to form a political parties.

   Three main components of political parties :

   1. the leaders

   2. the active membres

   3. the followers

   CLASSIFICATION OF PARTY SYSTEM :

    i) Single or one party system :

• Only single or one party is allowed to control and run the government. The electoral system does not permit free competition for power.

• Example : China ( only communist  party. )

   ii) Two- party system or Bi-party system :

 

• Several parties may exist and have seats in state legislation but only two parties win the majority.

• Example :  USA , UK etc.

   iii) Multi party system :

• More than two parties may come to power on its own or in alliance.      

• Example : India Many get political representation.
