Roger Williams wrote a key into the American language so that the new European settlers could easily talk to the Native Americans.   Roger Williams was thrown out of the Massachusetts Bay Colony because he argued for distinct set of powers for the church and the clergy.   He was loved by the new settlers because of his tolerance towards race and religion based discrimination.
