The Oogamous type of gametes are referred to as the type of gametes in the case of which the male gamete is smaller in comparison to the female gamete and is active while the female gamete is larger in comparison to the male gamete and is passive.

- In the case of oogamous type of gametes the male gamete can either be "biciliate" (having two cilia) or "multiciliate" (having multiple cilia).
