Oral Poliomyelitis Vaccine (OPV) is a WHO-recommended vaccine for the prevention of polio.

  • Poliomyelitis (polio) is a disease that may affect the nervous system. It can even cause paralysis and also death.
  • Polio can only be prevented and there is no cure for the same.
  • Even though polio might affect anyone, it mainly affects children under 5 years.
  • Depending on the environments that children grow in, 4 doses or more are needed to protect children from polio.
