Order of reaction:- In a rate low expression it is the addition of powers of the reactants concentration.

For the reaction:-

aA + bB ----> Product

Here:-

Rate law will be k [A]^x [B]^y

where,

  • x will be the reaction with respect to A.
  • y will be the reaction with respect to B.
  • x + y = n which is to be overall order of the reaction.

Important Information:-

  • Possibility of order of the reaction is all it is possible to be -ve, +ve or even it may be 0.

  • It is actually a experimental quantity.
