An organic acid is a type of an organic compound that has acidic properties. It characterized by weak acidic properties and does not dissociate completely in the presence of water. This acids derived from plants and animals. Example- Citric acid in lemon and oxalic acid in tomato. The most common organic acids are the carboxylic acids, whose acidity is associated with their carboxyl group –COOH.
