Osmosis is the movement of water molecules from their region of higher concentration(dilute solution) to their lower concentration (concentrated solution) through a semi permeable membrane
Diffusion is the movement of molecules of a substance from the region of their higher concentration to the region of lower concentration when the two are in a direct contact

osmosis is the moment of water molecules from the place of higher concentration to lower concentration
example: this happens daily inside us when the concentration of water is less inside a cell the water which is present outside the cell in a higher concentration moves in where there is less concentration of water through plasma membrane this way cell gains and loses water and this is the process of osmosis.
