Osmosis:-
The process of movement of water from high concentration to the lower concentration through semi permeable membrane is known as osmosis
In hypotonic soln concentration out side the cell is higher than inside hence water moves inside as a result cell swell
In hypertoni soln concentration inside the cell is higher than outside as a result water moves outside and cell shrinks
In isotonic soln concentration outside the cell and inside is equal hence water does not move anywhere
