Osmosis is a type of diffusion, that is passage of water along a selectively permeable membrane. It's types are passive diffusion and facilitated diffusion

guptayashi: Osmosis is the movement of water to the plasma membrane from the region of low concentrated solution to high region concentrated solution

In the process of Osmosis, water naturally moves from an area of low salt concentration through a semipermeable membrane to an area of high salt concentration. The movement of a pure water to equalise salt concentrations on each side of the membrane generates a pressure called ‘Osmotic Pressure.

There are two type of osmosis:

1. Endosmosis
2. Exosmosis
