What is osmosis ? What is its important to living organisms

Osmosis is the movement of substance from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration.

Actually, it exchange metabolic wastes from our body. We animals use Osmosis to absorb water from intestine to blood whereas plants use this to absorb water from soil via roots.
