\huge{\underline{\sf{\blue{Osmosis-}}}}The passive movement of water molecules from a region of high water concentration to a lower concentration through semipermeable membrane is called osmosis.

Types of Solution in Osmosis :-

\huge{\underline{\sf{\orange{Hypotonic\:Solution -}}}}If the medium surrounding the cell has higher water concentration than the cell. The cell will gain water by osmosis. Such a solution is know as Hypotonic Solution. In this process the water will come into the cell and cell will swell up.

\huge{\underline{\sf{\orange{Isotonic\:Solution-}}}}If the medium had exactly the same water concentration as the cell. There will be no net movement of water across the cell membranes. Such Solution is know as Isotonic Solution. In this process the cell will remain as same size.

\huge{\underline{\sf{\orange{Hypertonic\:Solution-}}}}If the medium has a lower concentration of water than the cell. The cell will lose water by osmosis such solution is know as hypertonic solution. Therefore the cell will shrink.
