Arjuna's Penance is an example of the magnanimous masterpieces of Mahabalipuram. 'Arjuna's Penance' is an infusion from the Mahabharata, of how Arjuna showed rigorous austerities for receiving the Shiva's weaponry.

This majestic relief, engraved in the mid-seventh century, estimates nearly 30m which is 100ft long by 15m which is 45ft high. Its enormous size and measure are difficult to presume just from images.
