Oxidation potential: The potential at which oxidation occurs at the anode in an electrochemical cell.In an electrochemical cell, there is a separation between the electrodes and the solution which sets up a difference in the potential of both and this electrical potential difference between the metal and the solution is called electrode potential. Thus,the electrode potential in a measure of tendency of an electrode in a half cell to gain or loose electrons ... so the tendency of an electrode to loose electrons or to get oxidised is called oxidation potential...whereas the tendency of electrons to gain or to get reduced is known as reduction potential...
