Ozone depletion

You know that most of the Ozone in the atmosphere is concentrated in the ozonosphere.

But the thickness of this layer of ozone is not the same all over the world or at all times a year.

For example , In September and October, when it is spring in the Southern Hemisphere; much of the atmospheric ozone over the South Pole is destroyed and the ozone layer in this area becomes very thin. Such a thinned patch is called an ozone hole .

It forms when the weather conditions are ideal for certain chemical reactions in which compounds chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) release chlorine , which destroys ozone .
