ozone layer is a thin blanket of gases around the earth that protects earth by the uv radiations of sun.

Ozone layer is a layer outside our earth's atmosphere which protects us from harmful Ultra violet rays coming from the sun. It is depleting mainly because of chlorofluorocarbons(CFCs). CFCs are very stable in nature and some uv rays in our atmosphere split it into chlorine gas and this gas due to lighter weight rises up and gets combined with ozone resulting in the breakdown of ozone and forming different compounds and this is how ozone depletes
