I dont knw much abt the tricks or ways u can in painting but still whatever i knw im posting here 

→u must be careful about the edges cuz its like a base for the painting             onces the edges goes wrong , the whole painting may spoil

→then the texture

→most important is the colour combination

→the focal point 

→colour plays a leading role in painting its important to use bright colours

→atlast the finishing stage it may be the border or those shades or strokes       that adds a fresh look to the painting
