It is an equation in the form of two variables. Usually x and y.

E.g. 5x+7y=0

x+y=7

They are of three types. They are either consistent, either dependent or inconsistent.

They are classified on basis of graph they make. First of all when a pair of equations intersect with two line they are consistent. They have only one solution.

Secondly, if a pair of equations are coincident line then they are called dependent. Such pair has infinite solutions.

Thirdly, if a pair of equations on graph do not intersect each other , that is they are parallel then it is called inconsistent. They have no solution.
