Pangaea or Pangea is the name given to the supercontinent that existed during the Paleozoic and Mesozoic eras, before the process of plate tectonics separated each of the component continents into their current configuration. The name was coined by Alfred Wegener.

All the seven continents we see today, millions of years ago, were all together as one supercontinent called Pangaea. This supercontinent was broken because of the tectonic plates inside the Earth. Convection currents in the Earth's mantle cause these plates to move.
