Paramagnetism is a form of magnetism whereby certain materials are weakly attracted by an externally applied magnetic field, and form internal, induced magnetic fields in the direction of the applied magnetic field
Diamagnetic materials are repelled by a magnetic field; an applied magnetic field creates an induced magnetic field in them in the opposite direction, causing a repulsive force

Whenever there are two paired electrons in an orbital which are together and their total spin in the orbital is zero then they are diamagnetic electrons and the atoms with diamagnetic electrons are called diamagnetic atoms...
The unpaired electrons of paramagnetic atoms response in external magnetic field and are therefore attracted....
These are mainly used in Energy level diagram.....
