\underline\bold{Parenchyma:-}

● The cells of parenchyma are living and passes the power of division.

●The parenchymatous cells are oval , round , polygonal or elongated in shape.

● The cell wall is thin and encloses dense cytoplasm containing small nucleus.

● This arounds a large central vacuole.

● Intercellular spaces are apendent in parenchyma.

● These tissues are found in soft parts of the plant such as stem, roots, leaves, flowers and fruits.

\underline\bold{Functions:-}

● The main function of parenchyma is to store and assimilate the food. It is serves as food storage tissue.

\bold{Ex:-} Starch in the parenchyma of cortex of potato tuber.

● The intercellular air spaces allow gaseous exchange. These tissue also stores waste products of the plants such as tanin, gum, crystals, Resins etc.

● Inequatic plants large air cavities present in the parenchyma to help them float. Such a parenchyma is called \bold{aerenchyma}.

● The parenchyma tissue in which chloroplasts are present are called chloranchyma , they performs photosynthesis in the leaves.
