The Parliament needs to perform the following functions:-
▪️ To Select the National Government:-
- Parliament of India consists of the President, the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha .One of
- the most important functions of the Lok Sabha is to select the executive or the national
- government. After the Lokh Sabha elections , the leader of the party with the majority of
- the elected members is invited by the president to form the government.
▪️ To Control,Guide and Inform the Government:-
- The parliament keeps a check on the ministers and their work. MPs have the right to
- question the ministers during the question hour. Opposition parties highlight drawbacks
- in various policies and programs of the government and mobilise popular support for
- their own policies.

- Law-making is a significant function of Parliament.
