PASTEURIZATION : It is mainly used for the preservation of milk . Milk is heated to about 70 degree Celsius for 15 to 20 seconds and then suddenly cooled to 20 degree Celsius. It kills most of the microorganisms present in the milk . This process is called pasteurization. It was discoverd by Louis Pasteur . Pasteurised milk can be consumed without boiling .

The heating and cooling treatment given to milk is called pasteurization.

It helps us because pasteurized milk can be consumed without boiling it as it is free from harmful microbes .
