People's Biodiversity Registers document provides know hows of status, uses, history, current changes and forces driving in biodiversity resources, gainers and losers in methods and people's perceptions of how resources will be managed.  

Number of PBRs have been made in many parts of India starting from 1995 through initiatives of NGOs and educational institutions working with local communities and village councils.  

Those attempts have been boosted by a wish to promote decentralized systems of management of natural resources and to create  basis for equitable sharing of benefits of commercial utilization.
